Analysis of small charging current of diesel generator

When using a Diesel Generator set, when the Generator Set starts to rated speed, sometimes the Generator charging current is too small. In the following, we will analyze the causes and countermeasures of this phenomenon. This failure is usually caused by a single silicon diode lead being disconnected or a poor contact between the brush and the slip ring. The specific reasons are as follows:

1. Belt slipping;

2. The regulator voltage is too low;

3, diesel generator magnetic field wire grinding iron or magnetic field coil local short circuit, etc.

4. Diesel generator silicon diode leads are disconnected, and one or two phases of the armature coil are disconnected.

5. The contact between the brush and the slip ring is poor (there is dirt on the slip ring, the carbon brush is too worn, the spring pressure is insufficient, etc.), the contact resistance is large, and the exciting current is reduced.

In response to this phenomenon, the following measures should be taken:

(1) Check the contact between the diesel generator brush and the slip ring. No abnormality was found.

(2) Measure the output voltage of the regulator with the DC voltage block of the multimeter and find that the output voltage is very low;

(3). Use a multimeter DC voltage block to measure the output voltage of the generator and find that the output voltage is 5V (the voltage regulator should be disconnected from the battery during the measurement process), proving that the fault occurred on the charging generator, and found when measuring the diode Four diodes burned. After replacing the diode, the diesel generator is assembled. The diesel generator starts to 1300 r / min. The charging ammeter on the dashboard shows 15A, indicating that the diesel generator is charging normally.
